In view of the inflation prevailing in the country, a new Pay Commission is needed every 10 years. The last of those commissions was constituted 10 years ago; that is, 2014 saw the installation of the 7th Pay Commission. Its recommendations were later implemented in 2016 and gave a sigh of relief to the government employees, being marked by a considerable increase in salary allowances.
Now that the 7th Pay Commission is up for ten years, anticipation looms above employees regarding the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. However, there is a media report that could spoil the party.
No Proposal to Form the 8th Pay Commission
Actually, it is Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, who made it clear that the central government has no proposal to form the 8th Pay Commission. For the record, it has to be said that recommendations of the Pay Commission have formed the basis of revision in the salaries, allowances, and pension of government employees.
The recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission were essentially the benefits of millions among the employees of the country. Now the big question that looms in people’s minds is about whether or not there will be an 8th Pay Commission.
Latest statement from the Union Minister of State for Finance declares that the government won’t be taking any steps to set up the 8th Pay Commission from 1 January 2026. It has rather been said that a new mechanism should be adopted for salary increase reviews.
Regular salary review system will be implemented
As a substitute for the Pay Commission, the government wishes to put into place a regular salary review system, according to the reports that are going around. It was stated in Parliament by Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary that the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission necessitate no formation of a new commission for reviewing salaries and allowances.
Instead, basic needs and inflation under the Acroyd formula will be taken into account while reviewing salaries. This will be done under the supervision of Shimla Labor Bureau.
